Wake Up With An NBA Countdown: Best Step Backs
Good morning everybody, happy Thursday! Hopefully this is the last day of your work week before Labor Day weekend, if your boss is making you come in tomorrow you may as well just quit because why work for such a dickhead. With that in mind, I know you’re already looking at your clock every 5 seconds wishing it would move faster. How is it not lunch already, nobody knows. So in order for me to do my part in helping you get to freedom, I wanted to find something today that would be long enough and entertaining enough so that you forgot how many hours are left in your day. That is why I think you’ll enjoy this 9 minute video of one of the most disrespectful and popular moves in today’s NBA
The Step Back.
I feel like the NBA has moves that come in waves, and right now we are 100% in an era where anyone and everyone is trying to master a legit step back. James Harden in my opinion has the best, but it’s also highly controversial on the account that I’m pretty sure he’s traveling like 85% of the time. We all remember the Kyrie side step back that won the Cavs a title, and we are seeing more and more players try and master the footwork and concentration this moves requires. Because make no mistake about it, when you pull off a legit step back, it’s essentially unguardable.
What I love about a well executed step back isn’t just that the crowd goes wild when they see one, but it legit murders defenders. Nothing is better on the basketball court than making your defender fall down, and while it may happen every once in a while with a crossover, you can almost guarantee it with a nasty step back. I dare you to try and watch this video and not say “ooooh damn” to yourself with each and every one. I love this move. I think it also has to do with the fact that these moves usually come as part of some sort of dagger three (fuck you LeBron) in a high pressure situation. That all adds to the drama and makes this move so exciting.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy a nice little break this morning of some of the best step backs from this past season. Just an assortment of embarrassed defenders and big time shots. As always if there is anything you’d like to wake up to once we’re back from the break just leave it in the comments below. Otherwise have a great Thursday and a safe Labor Day weekend!
